Hundreds of business units were operating around the globe guided by corprate brand standards light on direction for digital experiences. This led to a complete lack of consistency across the supply chain. Users would move between multiple platforms and services without any reliable patterns to rely on. Technologies and interfaces were repeated and recreated in each situation, leading to a massive escalation in production and maintenance in each region and level of the supply chain.

Our goal was to create a consistent, unified design language backed by modern technological solutions. Of principal importance was this system’s ability to evolve and flex to accommodate each business unit’s individual use cases.

A key implimentation of the system (shown below) came in the form of its use as an native app for tablets. The app acted as a mediation point between buyers and farmers for commidity contract trading.

This was a complex, varied transaction with parameters literally changing by the minute. Our app solution simplified and streamlined the process, that was previously facilitated by mulitple, complex spreadsheet tools.

The benefit of this project was twofold: it not only demonstrated the product process to the client but also served as a model for expanding the design system throughout the organization. By targeting a native app environment, the technical aspects of the system were strengthened, and enhancements to components and interaction patterns were added to the system to take advantage of the native touch-based devices.
